ALT is my senior thesis project—a visionary brand reshaping everyday kitchen essentials for allergy-conscious individuals. Rooted in the ethos of "Substitute, Not Sacrifice," ALT strives to redefine the culinary landscape by offering allergy alternatives that are not only satisfying but also enhance the cooking and eating experience. Inspired by the pursuit of flavor, accessibility, and improvement, the project navigates the delicate balance of creating exciting substitutions without compromising on taste or joy.

the problem

 

Did you know that 90% of all food allergies stem from eight common sources: milk, wheat, soy, shellfish, fish, peanuts, tree nuts, and eggs? ALT was born out of the need to address the issue of uninspiring and limited allergy alternatives currently in the market. Many consumers, particularly those with allergies or parents of allergic children, often felt compelled to compromise flavor for safety. Our mission at ALT was clear: to provide a range of products that completely eradicated this taste versus safety dilemma.

 

the solution

As the solution, we devised an extensive array of allergy alternatives covering the top eight food allergens. To enhance user experience, each category is distinctly color-coded, allowing consumers to effortlessly identify and navigate the product line.

the process

We attentively listened to the needs and desires of consumers with allergies, identifying what they felt was lacking in their cooking experiences. This valuable insight played a pivotal role in shaping the extensive range of products offered by ALT, ensuring that we addressed and incorporated those essential elements into our development.
